Coffee Luwak ( Kopi Luwak)

While birds and other wildlife find homes on coffee plantations, any creature that actually eats the crop would necessarily be considered a pest. Right? Well, not entirely. On coffee plantations in the south and southeast Asian range of the common palm civet, these coffee-eating carnivores are welcome members of the work force.
Weighing four to 11 pounds, the common palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphrodites) is a smallish carnivore that lives largely in the trees, where it emerges at night to forage alone for a mixed diet of fruit, insects, and
small mammals.

Research about Kopi Luwak

There is a research in 2002-2004 by Prof. Massimo Marcone from University of Guelph, he examined the chemical and physical properties of Kopi Luwak coffee. He found that the gastrointestinal (GI) tract of the Luwak wa in fact affecting the beans. But he was surprised to find - despite the unusual fermentation path - that roasted Kopi Luwak beans had lower bacterial counts then control beans.

FINEST COFFEE FROM SUMATRA CIVET CAT

Why it called as Kopi Luwak ?

Of course because the coffee have produced by the civet cat ( luwak = indonesian name) or in the latin name as " Paradoxorus Hermaproditus " .

That animals have a unique characteristic to smell and choose finest coffee, they slick the sweet part of coffee bean then they eat whole that beans. So that the coffee beans are processed at civet stomach. And when we tell you where the beans have, arghh.. you'll understand why. You see the primary reason for Civet Coffee's distinctive taste is that it's been partially fermented by passing through the digestive system of a Sumatra civet cat. Only about 200 kilos of this blend is collected per month in our breeding, making it the ultimate in exclusivity and rarity.
